CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION: INEC Opens Portal for Online Registration

 INEC says voters card online registration portal is a public service and therefore free of charge. All you need is either a PC or mobile device with internet connection. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has on today Monday, 28th June, 2021 opened  a portal for online continuous voters registration exercise.

According to INEC, the online platform was launched to make the continuous voter registration easily accessible to Nigerians, and to avoid overcrowding, in line with Covid-19 pandemic protocol.

Categories of Those Qualified for this Exercise

1. Those who have turned 18 years since after the last continuous voter registration exercise and those who have not registered previously

2. Registered voters who have had problems during accreditation for any past election, with either permanent Voter Card or their fingerprints not being read by the Smart Card Reader

3. Registered voters who want to transfer their voting location from one place to another

4. Registered voters who want to correct issues with their data, such as misspelt names, date of both, etc

5. Registered voters whose PVCs are lost or damaged 

Registration Procedures for INEC Voters Card

1. Prospective registrants are to go online to perform a preregistration using the URL: https://cvr.inec.gov.ng Or https://cvr.inec.org

2. A registrant shall first create an account on the portal using a valid email address to enable him/her to commence the preregistration process

3. Upon creating the account, an account activation link will be sent to the email address provided during account registration 

4. Click on the provided link to activate and continue with your preregistration 

5. Each registrant shall fill an online form with the relevant and necessary information 

6. After filling the form,  the registrant shall select a convenient date and time when he/she would want to visit the registration centre for biometric capture to complete the registration process 

7. The registrant shall click on the Submit button to complete his/her preregistration,  and after a successful submission, an Application Slip containing his/her Application ID, a QR code and relevant details will be generated 

8. Print your Application Slip,  which contains an application number, QR code, and other details 

Visit and INEC registration centre on the scheduled date of appointment with the printed application slip for biometric capture

9. A registration slip will be issued to you after the successful completion of your registration to be used to collect your Permanent Voters Card (PVC)
