Wema Bank Lifts Ban on International, Online Transactions Using Naira Card

Weman Bank has lifted suspension it earlier placed on the use of its naria debit cards for international transactions

In an email sent to its customers on Friday, the financial institution set  monthly transactions limit to $500.

Last year, many Nigerian commercial banks banned the use of naira cards for online payments and point-of-sale (POS) transactions for overseas cash withdrawals.

Nigerians who buy things online and other IT professionals were frustrated because they could no longer use their naira cards to make purchases.

Wema Bank stated that customers can now take advantage of unrestricted transactions and make purchases worldwide using their naira cards which include Mastercard, Visa, and ALAT Mastercard.

“You can now use your Naira cards, including Mastercard, ALAT Mastercard, and Visa, for international spending. For your international transactions, you can enjoy up to $500 per month,” the email reads.
