Meta to Start Charging $14.99 Monthly for Facebook, Instagram Verification


Meta Inc has announced its plan to roll out paid subscription for Facebook and Instagram accounts verification.

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta  CEO announced this on Sunday in a post on his verified Facebook page.

According to the statement, Meta Verified will allow users to use government issued ID to verify their accounts, get blue badge, and protect their account from hacking and impersonation, and offer them "direct access to customer support."

The verification will attract monthly subscription fee of $11.99 on the web, and $14.99 on iOS.

"Good morning and new product announcement: this week we're starting to roll out Meta Verified -- a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support. This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on web or $14.99 / month on iOS."

Zuckerberg stated that the service will be launched in "Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon."

Recall, Meta on Thursday, February 16, announced it's rolling out Instagram, Facebook and Messenger Channels.
