The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam  Nasir El-Rufai has said that he can use all the security apparatus at his disposal to arrest the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, if he so wish.

El-Rufai said this during an interactive forum on Monday in Kaduna.

He accused Obi of masterminding his  (El-Rufai)  arrest in Anambra during Anambra State governorship election in 2013 when Obi was Anambra governor under APGA.

“In 2013, I went to Anambra State as an official of the APC to witness the by-election for governorship; your next guest, Peter Obi, was governor. He got me arrested, and he detained me for 48 hours in my hotel room.

“Now, I am the governor of Kaduna State and he is coming to Kaduna. In addition to the police and the SSS, I have one mechanised division of the Nigeria Army, but we are northerners; we are civilised. We don’t do things like that,” Mr El-Rufai said.

Contrary to his accusation now, El-Rufai had earlier in a television interview confirmed that the order to detain him in a hotel room  in Anambra came from Abuja under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led presidency where PDP had governorship candidate in Anambra, and Obi had no affiliation with PDP then.

Mr El-Rufai has been consistently on verbal attacks against Peter Obi and the “Obidients”

He had said Peter Obi supporters are only on Twitter.

When the support group of the Labour Party planned million-man march for Mr Obi in Kaduna, El-Rufai mucked them saying “In Kaduna? Not Kaduna Twitter? – I hope you get two hundred persons on the streets,” he chided.

He further said Obi can only get the 200 people if he will import them from East on not buses.
