Students in Bauchi Protest over Separation of Boys and Girls in Schools

Secondary schools pupils in Bauchi protesting in the streets of Bauchi against a new policy of the state government to separate boys from girls in schools.

The students, who officially resumed school today (Monday) across the state took to the street to protest against the new policy

Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Mr Aliyu Tilde, had earlier announced that the State government has concluded plans to separate male and female students in secondary schools in the state.

Tilde, who revealed the plan during press briefing after State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Bauchi, noted that it would only be executed whenever and wherever it was possible.

He explained that the idea was conceived curb the prevalence of moral decadence among students of secondary schools.

He also states that private schools are expected to buy into the initiative and separate the males who would be attending their academic activities in one institution and the females in another separate institution.
