Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has backtracked on a lawsuit challenging Atiku Abubakar’s primary election victory, stating the deadline for filing such suits had long elapsed.

He said this while speaking at the commissioning of projects constructed by his government in Rivers State.

Wike denied having knowledge of the suit, stressing that if he wanted to go to court, he would have done that within two weeks after the primary implied someone else may have filed the suit without his knowledge.

He accused the camp of Atiku Abubakar of being behind the purported lawsuit to blackmail him.

“I don’t know anything about the so-called suit. I did not ask anyone to file any suit for me,” the governor said

“I don’t know the lawyers, am I a kid to be filing a suit at this time. I had 14 days after the primary within which to have filed any suit because this is pre-election matter. I didn’t do that then, is it two months after primary I will file a suit?” Wike queried.

He equally accused Atiku Abubakar’s supporters of spreading falsehood against him on social media.

“They are busy spreading lies on social media against me. They said I have removed PDP flag from Rivers government house.” Wike alleged.

Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila who was guest to the Rivers State Governor, accused Wike of being one of those who plotted against him not to become speaker of House of Representatives in 2015. He said the person Wike supported then, was one of those who sat in PDP presidential primary and plotted against Wike.
