In August 23 2022, Nigeria switched over to 5th generation (5G) technology.
MTN and Mafab Communications, which won the 3.5GHz Spectrum auction conducted on December 13, 2021 rolled out the 5G network from 23rd of August, 2022.
With 5G, subscribers are beginning to get a whole new experience of internet speed, even as the technology is unlocking new opportunities in all areas of the Nigeria's economy. Interestingly, one major challenge that industry experts had anticipated may be the bane of 5G usage in Nigeria, availability of 5G phones, is already being addressed even before the rollout of the technology.
