Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Attack Plateau Community, Kill 8 Persons, Injure Others

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked Berom in Plateau State on Sunday night.

The secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Rwang Tengwog, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television in Jos said 8 persons were killed, while 2 others sustained various degrees of injury through gunshots.

According to Tengwog the attackers invaded the compound at about 9pm Sunday night and started shooting sporadically leading to the death of the 8 people.

He said the two persons injured were taken to the Vom Christian hospital for immediate medical attention.

The BYM secretary stressed that as at last night, seven persons from the family of Pam Gyang were shot dead and the eighth victim died within the early hours in the morning.

Among those killed are three adults and five children, and were about to be buried, at the time of filing this report.

Residents say there are possibilities that more persons were killed.

Police and other law enforcement agencies are yet to confirmed the attack, and the reason for the attack is yet unclear.
