Meta Releases more Privacy Control Features on WhatsApp

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, on Tuesday released latest privacy features update on WhatsApp.

The announcement was made by the Meta founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg on his verified Facebook page.

He revealed that the new privacy features coming to WhatsApp include exit group chats without notifying everyone, control who can see when you're online, and prevent screenshot on view once messages.

Meta promises "We'll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations.

"More updates are expected in the coming year."

New privacy features coming to WhatsApp:

  • Exit group chats without notifying everyone: Meta latest privacy features update enables users to quietly exit groups without another members noticing their exit. 
  • Control who can see when you're online: Users now have control over who sees when they are online. Before this update, when users hide when they are online, it will be hidden from all their contacts. But now you can choose which of your contacts you don't want to know when you're online.
  • Disable screenshot of messages: Users can prevent screenshots on view once messages. You can set some messages you wouldn't want to be screenshot on "view once" to prevent anyone from taking screenshot of the messages.
