Police Arrest Serving Councillor Supplying AK-47 Rifle to Bandits in Kaduna

A serving councillor in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, identified as Abdulrahman Adamu has been arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian Police, Kaduna State Command for being in possession of an AK-47 rifle.

Adamu was arrest in the Giwa Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

Statement by the state police command spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige said operatives of Operation Puff Adder II attached to Kaduna Police Command during patrol along Galadimawa Road intercepted the councillor, who was moving in a black Lifan motorcycle down Galadimawa community with a sack.

The policemen suspected the content of the sack and decided to search the sack to see its content. An AK-47 rifle loaded with six rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition concealed in the sack was discovered.

According to Jalige, the suspect was taken custody with the exhibits. He further revealed that preliminary investigation shows that the suspect is a serving councillor representing Kinkiba Ward in the legislative council of Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The suspect also confessed to be taking the rifle to the bandits in their hideout at in Galadimawa community to carry out their hideous activities.
