Mark Zuckerberg Announces Launch of WhatsApp Cloud API

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Meta on Thursday announced launching WhatsApp Cloud API for businesses.

He said the WhatsApp Cloud API will "allow businesses and developers to build on top of WhatsApp to customize their experience and respond to customers quickly and easily."

Here is what he said

"Today we're launching WhatsApp Cloud API for any business of any size around the world. This will allow businesses and developers to build on top of WhatsApp to customize their experiences and respond to customers quickly and easily. The best business experiences meet people where they are and that's WhatsApp, so I'm excited to open this to businesses everywhere."

What you need to known

WhatApp is an instant messaging application for Android and iOS mobile phones. Owned by Meta, it’s the most popular instant messaging App and social media application with the largest user base of about 1.6 as at 2021. It is used for sending multimedia messages between users, where users identity themselves and connect with one another with their phone numbers. WhatsApp has two version: the normal WhatsApp and Business WhatsApp. Business WhatsApp is specifically built for businesses with  feature that will enable advertise, sell their products and services and offer efficient customer care services to their clients.

API, which stands for Applications  Programming Interface software interface that enables two applications to interact with each other. 

With WhatsApp Cloud API, businesses can integrate third-party apps such payment gateways, robo-advising, e-store etc.
