The management of Azman Airline has reacted to the comment credited to Jamil Abubakar on the killing of Deborah Samuel by Islamic extremists for alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.

Nigerians had launched trades against the company thinking that Capt Jamil Abubakar was still in the employment of the airline as a pilot. Those Nigerians asked Azman not to keep a religious extremist in their employment especially as a pilot.

Jamil Abubakar, who is an in-law to the Africa’s richest man, Liko Dangote had on Saturday, justified the killing of Deborah by Islamic mob in Sokoto. In a tweet, he said in Islam "punishment for blasphemy is death."

Distancing itself from Abubakar and his comment, Azman Airline on Sunday released a statement, stating that Abubakar has left the company as a pilot since December, 2019.

“PUBLIC NOTICE: Capt Jamil Abubakar is no longer a pilot @AzmanAir; his last flight with us was 22nd Dec 2019,” Azman Air said in a rebuttal tweet. “We refuse to take responsibility for a comment or view of a former staff. The general public should kindly take note.”
