In a another gaffe, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigerians' mobile phone numbers were disconnected from national power grid for failing to link their SIM with NIN, a measure taken by Minister of Communication and Digital Economy to fight insecurity.

This was one of  embarrassing statements he made on Sunday at Onikan Stadium with thousands of his supporters and lamented Nigeria’s moribund power infrastructure.

“And yet we started disconnecting from NIPP our phone numbers,” he said

His inarticulacy mixing up of different issues can be signs of mental challenges associated with old age.

The NIPP is the National Independent Power Project, a Federal Government policy to diversify  power generation into the national grid.

While the Federal Government, through the Minster of Communication, Isa Pantami directed telecommunications operators in Nigeria to disconnect about 72 millions of Nigerian phone lines over failure to  enroll to the national identity database. According to the minister, the measure was taken to curb insecurity.

Business Compiler had reported that Mr Tinubu on the same day said Nigerians like “tweeting on WhatsApp.”

The former Lagos governor, has on two occasions said that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) has expiration date and that those used in 2019 general elections have expired, advising the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct fresh voter registration. His claim is contrary to public knowledge and the position of the electoral body (INEC).

In2021, Mr Tinubu advised the Nigerian military to recruit 50 million youths to fight insecurity and unemployment, although his aides later corrected the notion.

He was seen a video click earlier this year where he appeared  to have urinated on his body.

His actual age is  matter of debate, where he claims to be 70, and his fellow politicians who have known him for years say he should be about 80 years.

Tinubu has maintained that he is fit to rule Nigeria as the job of governance is not like that of a mechanic or bricklayer.

However, Nigerians fear that Tinubu may become another President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been frequenting London hospitals for medical treatments for the past 7 years.
