FG Disburses N1.3 Billion to 100,000 Poor Households in Katsina State

Federal Government of Nigeria says it has disbursed N1.3 billion to 100,043 poor households in Katsina under its conditional cash transfer programme.

This was revealed by the Special Assistant on Empowerment and Special Intervention to Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina, Abdulkadir Mamman-Nasir, at a rally organised by the NSIP’s beneficiaries on Sunday in Katsina.

Conditional Cash Transfer is the component of the FG’s National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) designed to support the poor and vulnerable families, uplift them from poverty and enhance wealth creation in the country.

Mamman-Nasir, who doubles as  NSIP’s Focal Person in the state, said that each of the beneficiaries received N10,000 under the programme in the past two months.

According to him Federal Government has expended over N1.1 billion on free meals to over 800,000 pupils across 2,777 schools in the state under the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

He further stated that additional 58,000 youths and women had been enrolled under the Government Enterprises Empowerment Programme (GEEP), where over 70% of the beneficiaries were women.

On the N-Power component of NSIP, he said  over 14,400 persons from the state also benefiting from the programme.
