Tomato Jos Company Begins Tomato Processing in Kaduna

A new tomato processing company, Tomato Jos Farming and Processing Limited has commenced the production of tomato paste variants in Kaduna State for the Nigerian and West African markets.

The company sources its tomatoes from Northern sates for the production of the tomato paste variants. The tomato pastes packaged in a 65gm sachet is expected to be distributed in the Nigerian markets and other West African markets.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mira Mehta, while speaking at the launch of the products, said the project is a “dream come true.”

She said the investment has attracted initial capital funding of $30 million and additional funding of N1 billion.

The American-born entrepreneur said she is proud of her team for keying into her vision.

“It is a dream come true. Though entrepreneurship is full of ups and downs, I feel encouraged whenever I see my passion for this business ignite in my colleagues.”

“It is the company’s first consumer product since the commencement of operations at its multi-billion-naira factory in Kaduna state last year.

“I am incredibly proud of the Tomato Jos team for their hard work and belief that we could achieve something of this scale,” Mehta said.

The factory funding from FCMB. Speaking at the event, the MD of FCMB, Yemisi Edun said that FCMB is committed to supporting agribusiness to ensure food security and food sufficiency in the country.

The Executive Secretary, Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency, Khalil Nur Khalil,  while unveiling the products, commended the Tomato Jos Company for siting the factory in the State despite security challenges facing the state, promising that Kaduna state government will continue to support the company.
