Russia Lists Conditions for Immediate Ceasefire

Russia has listed conditions for which it will immediately pull out its military from Ukraine.

A spokesman to Russian President, Dmitry Peskov told Reuters on Monday that Russia will immediately stop its military operations, if the Ukraine amends its constitution to reject the country’s  ambition to enter “any bloc,” and recognise the Crimean referendum and the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR).

“They should make amendments to their constitution according to which Ukraine would reject any aims to enter any bloc,’’ Peskov said

“We have also spoken about how they should recognise that Crimea is Russian territory and that they need to recognise that Donetsk and Lugansk are independent states.

“And that’s it. Then, Russia’s military operations will stop in a moment.’’

Peskov also said  Moscow would stop demilitarisation of Ukraine, if Kyiv stops its military action.

On Feb. 24, Russia began a special operation to demilitarize and “denazify” Ukraine, responding to calls for help from the DPR and LPR in countering the aggression of Ukrainian troops.

Moscow has repeatedly said it has no plans to occupy Ukraine.

Russian Defence Ministry has continued to say special operations in Ukraine was targeted at the Ukrainian military formation only not the civilian population.

On the contrary, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has announced it has recorded 1,123 civilian casualties since the beginning of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.
