Ibrahim Wakkala, a former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, sustained gunshot wounds aboard of Kaduna-bound train attack on Monday evening.
According to an aide to the former Deputy Governor who spoke to Channels Television, Ibrahim Wakkala was returning from the All Progressive Congress, APC, National Convention that took place in Abuja on Saturday. He said that Mr Wakkala has been taken to the hospital to receive medical attention.
The spokesman of APC, Zamfara State chapter, Yusuf Idris also confirmed the incident. He said the bandits initially abducted the former Governor during the attack but was rescued by the combined efforts of the military and DSS who engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, and it “was during the process he sustained gunshot injury in the leg.”

The train conveying passengers numbering about a thousand from Abuja to Kaduna was attacked by terrorists between Katari and Rijana in Kaduna State.
