The Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has thrown his weight behind Bauch State, Bala Mohammed`s ambition of contesting for President in 2023, expressing confidence in the ability of the governor to lead the country.
He said this during a meeting held on Thursday at his Abuja residence. Governor Bala Mohammed who served as FCT minister during Janathan`s regime as president, held consultation meeting with the former Nigeria`s number 1 man, seeking his blessing and support for his (Bala) presidential ambition come 2023.
He said having worked with the Governor in the past he owes it as a duty to support his presidential ambition.
He said: “If you are there (as President), then I have a son,”
Jonathan said. “Every father wants his son to grow.
“Those
of you who worked with me, it is my duty to support you. We are the same
family. The best thing will happen for us.
“You
are very competent and focused person. By the divine providence, with the
support of Nigerians and God, you will become the President of Nigeria.”
Governor Bala thanked the Former President for his support and all the roles he placed in Nigeria`s democracy. According to governor, Nigeria's history of democracy will not forget Goodluck Jonathan as a hero for his commitments to strengthening it apart from his sacrifices and for ensuring free and fair election prevailed.
