Nigerian serial entrepreneur Jason Njoku is set to launch a creative new app called Raptures on December 21.
The app is a digital storytelling platform and studio network that creates original and industry-leading webtoons, comics, and animations all around the world. The platform story interest will come from the African, Black American and Arab communities.
Illustrations through storytelling have long been since the prehistory period. Back then cave painting was used as a style of communication. Nowadays, comics have made the art of storytelling more appealing and practicable for anyone. The introduction of the digital world away from the traditional paper style has made it easier for anyone to read and even make their own comics.
However, there have been some difficulties in making mobile comics on the java software, which operates differently in all phones because of the differences in screen sizes and technological specifications. Also, storytelling must be completed in 25 frames or less. As a result. the number of frames determines the delivery method.
Jason Njoku adds the new app Raptures to his endeavours, which includes the acclaimed iROKOtv and 11 other failed enterprises. We can only hope that Raptures gains the traction it needs. Jason, who is also a co-founder and CEO of iROKOtv, a video-on-demand service for Nigerian movies, has no doubt already set a large footprint in the creative space. This digital storytelling platform will have a global team based in Nigeria, Ghana, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
The platform encompasses 13 genres- romance, action, comedy, drama, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, and many more mobile comics. The community involves all age groups and will give talent from all over the world the ability to produce groundbreaking micro comics by utilising creative script development, monetisation, and publication tools.
“Today we are focused on igniting content creation with a $250 thousand which is approximately N150 million creators fund to connect & fund aspiring writers, illustrators, graphic designers & animators in the creation of more content.” Founder Jason Njoku said on his LinkedIn page.
The creator community and platform is a groundbreaking platform that delivers bite-sized content via mobile apps and web platforms. And with the funding, one can only anticipate how this will enhance creativity in the African continent.
