President Muhammadu Buhari on today, 25th October, 2021 unveiled Nigeria’s Central Bank's Digital currency known as eNaira.
The launch was first slated to be on the Nigeria’s Independence anniversary on October 1, but was canceled due to patent right dispute.
During the launch today, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele announced that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s digital currency is now live and available for download, as Nigeria takes the lead as the first country in Africa with a working CBDC.

How to sign up
- According to the apex bank, to sign-up on the eNaira speed wallet, you would be required to input your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, State of Origin, and Email, as exactly as captured during your BVN enrollment.
- Your banks would assist in validating and updating your BVN details to ensure seamless enrolment to the eNaira platform.
