Kano State Hishab Board has banned the sharing of pre-wedding pictures of the daughter of Emir of Kano, Zahrah Bayero, describing it as sin.
Following the appearance of the pre-wedding pictures showing exposed shoulders of Ms Zahrah, people were expecting to hear the reaction of Hisbah, a religious police known for sanctioning people for ‘immoral behaviours.’
The Kano Hisbah Commander General Haruna IIbn-Sa in an interview with BBC Pidgin i said the Emir’s daughter is not above the law, and she has failed to set a good example fpr other Muslims.
He said those Muslims who are sharing the pictures on social media has sinned. He asked them to stop forthwith.
“Hisbah boss Sheik Harun Ibn Sina say di Emir daughter na muslim wey no dey above di law and suppose lead by example if she wan blessings for her marriage.
“Di Hisbah boss also criticise pipo wey dey share di fotos and videos from di event saying na sin to share di materials,” BBC Pidgin reported.
Hisbah has in recent times arrested people for keeping their hair, and cut their hair against their wish. In June, Hisbah arrested 40 teenagers for selling condoms and marijuana. The religious police has equally prohibited the use of mannequins to display clothes by tailors, boutiques, supermarkets in the state.
Reactions have trialed the Kano Hisbah Board and its its decision to go after people who share the pre-wedding pictures on social media, rather than going after the one who wore ‘sinful clothing.’
Zahrah Bayero is espoused to President Muhammadu Buhari's son, Yusuf Buhari.
