Gunmen Kill Army Major, Another Sustains Gunshot Wounds

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have killed Major MS Samaila, the Acting Commanding Officer, 196 Battalion in Dundubus, Jigawa State.

The incident took place on Sunday night at about 11:30 pm on his way to kano from Maiduguri, Borno State.

Statement from the Nigerian Army says the Major was in company of his orderly, Lance Corporal Alisu Aliyu, who also sustained gunshot wounds. Mr Alisu Aliyu has been taken to hospital where is he is currently receiving treatment, while the corpse of the later Major has been deposited to the Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse.

“At about 042330A July 21, One Maj MS Samaila, Acting Commanding Officer, 196Bn on his way to Kano from Maiduguri with his orderly 20NA/79/4559LCpl Alisu Aliyu were attacked by Armed Robbers at Dundubus.

“The officer was shot dead, and his orderly sustained gunshot wound. The officer’s bod has been deposited at Shekoni Dutse. The solder is receiving medical attention accordingly,” the Army signal reads.
