14 abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna have been released, 40 days after their kidnap.

According to Markus Zarmai, Chairman of the Parents Forum in a statement, the students were released on Saturday at a location along Kaduna-Abuja expressway after ransom was paid.

Bandits invaded the school on April 20 and abducted the students to unknown location. The bandits demanded for a ransom of 800 million Naira. Three days after, as their demand was yet to be met, they killed 3 of the students and dumped their corpses at Kwanana Barure community in Kaduna. The kidnappers threatened to kill more of the students, if their demand was not met, at that time Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir E’Rufai vehemently refused to negotiate with the bandits. Two more of the students were killed on April 26.

Both the government and the Police are yet to confirm if the students have been released and the condition of their release.
