Google and Microsoft CEOs Pledge Support for India in Tackling Covid-19 Upsurge

“Right now India is going through our difficult moment in the pandemic thus far.”

Two Indian born CEOs of Google and Microsoft, Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella have pledged support for their country to supply it with medical oxygen and provide technical expertise. They made this known in statements they released on Monday.

In recent days there has been upsurge of Covid-19 cases in India with reported cases of more than 17.5 million, death figures up to 2,812. The country is seriously battling with shortage of ventilators. The healthcare facilities in a country of over 1 billion people are over stretched. India news cases for Monday alone is 352,991

Google on its blog post said it will give UNICEF grant for medical supplies to India. The company will expend $15 million on free adverts on public health awareness.

Nadella, Microsoft CEO said he’s heartbroken by the current situation in India. He announced that Microsoft and US government areas mobilizing to help. 

“I am heartbroken by the current situation in India. I’m grateful the US government is mobilizing to help. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts, and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.” Nadella wrote on Twitter 

Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai in his own twit, revealed Google's planned support for India.
