Nigerians, Africans Can Now Receive Payments From PayPal Users Worldwide Through Flutterwave

Nigeria’s foremost payment merchant, Flutterwave now partners with PayPal to enable Nigerians and indeed Africans to receive money from PayPal users worldwide

The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Flutterwave, Olugbenga said the collaboration with PayPal will enable PayPal users globally to make payments for goods and services provided from Africa.

“We are excited to bring PayPal’s fully integrated services to businesses across Africa. The collaboration reinforces our vision of creating a seamless digital payment system for Africa’s business communities that can now transact with international consumers.”

Flutterwave/PayPal service is now available to 50 African countries and worldwide. 

What You Need To Know 

Before now, Nigerian and Most African SMEs and E-commerce merchants couldn’t use PayPal accounts to receive money from their foreign customers. PayPal in 2017 suspended Nigeria PayPal accounts from receiving funds — Nigeria PayPal accounts can only be used to make payments, but can’t be used to receive payments. The international payment processor, PayPal said it decision was based on the fact that some fraudsters from Nigeria and Africa use PayPal accounts to receive illegal funds. The PayPal decision affected many genuine e-commerce merchants in Nigeria. 

As E-commerce businesses permeate African markets there is need to have digital platforms to receive e-commerce based payments. This partnership will bridge the gap by providing means for Nigerian and African SMEs to receive payments from PayPal users worldwide.
